Programme description
  • The ESA Space Situational Awareness programme contributes observations to space weather forecasting centres.
  • It comprises 2 Vigil satellites to monitor the sun from the L1 and L5 Lagrange points.
  • Vigil-L5 will be the first satellite to launch in the mid-2020's
  • ESA is the lead agency with several European Institutes contributing to hardware and space weather forecasting.
