BackForward Satellite Programme: Meteor-Priroda

Programme details
Programme description
  • Series of 6 satellites intended to demonstrate new instrumentation, mainly for land observation.  Precursor of the Resurs-O1 programme.
  • Russian programme: Roscosmos responsible of development of the space segment, RosHydroMet responsible of operations.
  • The satellites were actively stabilised over 3 axes.
  • The design lifetime was 2 years.
  • The first two satellites, of the Meteor-1 family (Meteor-1-18 and Meteor-1-25) were in high-inclination drifting orbits; the last four in subsynchronous orbits.
  • See detailed description at https://directory.eoportal.org/missions/meteor.

Note: in the satellite descriptive sheets, because of uncertain EOL dates, a mission duration of 2 years has been assumed.

Data circulation
  • Data stored onboard and downlinked to RosHydroMet acquisition stations.  Processed and disseminated by RosHydroMet.
