Programme description
  • A hybrid constellation of 30 small satellites with active (radar) and passive (microwave sounders) sensors to measure precipitation and ocean parameters for improving weather forecasting.
  • Satellites with 12 Ka-band radars and 18 MW radiometers are planned.
  • Full global coverage with <1 hour average revisit time.
  • Commercial programme implemented by in the U.S.A. Aim to complete constellation by end 2024
  • The orbits of the satellites are sunsynchronous with heights around 500 km.
  • A range of "weather products" are made available to users.
