Programme description
  • Series of operational meteorological satellites in geostationary orbit.
  • Developed and operated by KARI for KMA or ME (NIER) (Ministry of Ennvironment) or MLTM (Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs), depending on the specific mission.
  • 3-axis stabilised platforms.
  • The design life of the satellites is 10 years.
  • The orbital position may be either 128.2°E or 116.2°E.

Data circulation
  • CDAS (Command and Data Acquisition System) for real-time acquisition of the full information, pre-processing at MODAC (Meteo/Ocean Data Application Center) and re-transmission in near-real time.
  • HRIT (High Resolution Information Transmission) for near-real time broadcasting of the full information.
  • LRIT (Low Rate Information Transmission) for broadcasting of image frames and other data.
