  • Previously named FY-3RM-2 as 2nd flight unit of the FY-3RM programme, now integrated in the FY-3 programme.
  • It will be in an orbit 180 deg from FY-3G to maximise coverage of precipitation using both satellites.
  • Main mission: continuity of the Global Precipitation Measurement mission (GPM).
  • Substantial contribution to climatology.
  • Contributes to space weather and provides reference radiation measurements.
